"When you’re a kid you can spend four hours or more concentrating on nothing but the fantasy you’re putting together. That never happens again in your life unless you’re a painter." Juan Iturria

What secret do they share?
Look at us, what are we thinking? The little girl in the picture is intense and she has attitude. She doesn’t like school and people telling her what to do. She’s got vision that can see through illusion. She is not one to conform. One day in grade three, we were given all day to draw a self portrait, and this is my picture of myself in grade 3. My teacher and my parents saw my gift and encouraged me. Now I am the same intense, non conforming little girl with vision, only now I have developed my skills and my confidence as an artist, and as a human being. I am grounded in my life and art.
